APICTA Awards 2015 (Government and Public Sector Category)
The Integrated Criminal Case Filing and Management System (ICMS) of the State Courts of Singapore has achieved another milestone, winning an award at the regional level. The multi-agency system was conferred the Merit Award in the Government and Public Sector category, at the APICTA Awards 2015.
The Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards is a prestigious international awards program that is only open to winners of similar awards. ICMS qualified for the APICTA Awards after being conferred the Gold Award at the SiTF Awards 2015, in the category of Best Innovative Use of Infocomm Technology (Public Sector).
Nominations for the APICTA Awards in the Government and Public Sector category were evaluated based on uniqueness and the system’s value to the public and government. The award is presented to Information Communication Technology (ICT) innovations that are dedicated to delivering improved government and public sector service delivery.
It is no surprise that ICMS was conferred the award. The 100% browser-based system, developed by the State Courts of Singapore and Ecquaria, provides a convenient yet secure case-management process, revolutionising the Singapore criminal justice system.
Judges in the State Courts now conduct e-court hearings using ICMS. The e-minute sheet allows judges to select a court order whenever required, and enables the effective recording of proceedings as they unfold. This results in accurate recording of hearing proceeding and real-time generation of Court Orders.
The efficiency and savings that ICMS brings about extend beyond State Courts to the more than 2,800 users from the 35 enforcement agencies, 200 prosecutors and 900 law firms. The environmentally friendly system is expected to save 9 million pages in printing each year. Administrative matters are also reduced, providing time savings for investigation officers and prison officers.
As Presiding Judge See Kee Oon mentioned, “the system yields significant time and resources savings”, making it a popular system that has won 3 awards – FutureGov Singapore Awards 2015, SiTF Awards 2015 and APICTA Awards 2015 – within a year of its launch.
